A small update from a previous blog post of mine.

It's been a slow year for me and Supreme decks. When I heard of a John Baldessari collab I initially had high hopes, after stumbling upon this blog post, and instantly became a fan of the images he used with bold, bright colours but the final design proved to be very poor and a huge let down. The George Condo decks were a little too Yeezy for my liking so that was another easy pass, however 2011 brought out the best deck since the Damien Hirst spin paint set from 2009 and was a no-brainer, with Robert Longos men in cities deck "Eric".

Bike chain.

I’m no Grease Monkey, but I love vintage racing bikes, I recently took delivery of a 1960’s Mercier in turquoise blue and after a hard days graft the bike is gleaming back to, somewhat, it’s original former glory. But there was something missing, I wanted something to bring it into the 21st century whilst being practical at the same time. I’ve wanted this Supreme chain which was released in 2007 for a couple of years now but never been able to find one, luckily enough however after a few weeks of searching one popped up for sale, I may have overpaid a tad at the price of $160 but it looks great with the bike whilst offering the heavyweight security it will need in an urban environment.

better late than never.

I finally got my hands on the Supreme x North Face Expedition Pullover last week when it turned up on my doorstep from my good friend across the pond. As soon as I saw the leaked photos of this colourway I knew I had to have it and no other colour or design would make me think otherwise, I’ve been obsessing over the DPCU Australian camouflage ever since Supreme used it last year on a pair of box caps. The pullover is made with a 100% waterproof nylon 3 layer faille weave shell with tricot backing and fully taped seams which is perfect for those wet days we are regularly blessed with here in the UK.

The quality on this jacket is superb and even though I won’t be able to get much use out of it over the up and coming months I couldn’t be happier with it and recommend everybody to take advantage of the cheap prices during the summer to pick one up as I’m sure it’ll be a key piece of my wardrobe come autumn.

Also I had to get the Supreme edition of the recent Rizzoli published book, for a big fan of the New York skate brand it was a no brainer, the slip case is clean, simple and will keep it pristine for the many years I’m sure to own it.

Supreme Store - London

Allegedly, later this year, under the management of Michael Koppleman, Supreme will open their first store outside NY and Japan in London. The shop will sit just down the road from both the Bape store and Hideout, taking the space which was once a Benjy's coffee shop. The expansion will open the brand up to a whole new audience, but will that be good exposure. I have a horrible feeling this may be the beginning of the end...

Whilst my good friend was at Supreme L.A earlier this week picking up my bits and pieces from this season he was handed the second mixtape by J.Rocc for Supreme, this one simply titled "take 2", enjoy.

Supreme released their Spring Summer preview today and they didn't disappoint. Whilst I feel alot of the collection caters for the older gent, I was particularly pleased to see the return of the motion blur logo which seems to be the star this season, it's obvious who's responsible.

Supreme Spring Summer 2010 - focus

All the hype in the past few weeks has been about the newest Supreme drop and here it is. Although not all of it is to my taste this collection has created some very nice simple pieces, some of my favourites are seen below. The striped pocket tees will be perfect for this summer and the moleskine is a wonderful example of a very clever item to create and put in the collection. The anorak pictured above is my favourite garment from the S/S collection and I will try my hardest to add it to my wardrobe. I am sure stooops will grace you with his highlights from this collection.

About a month ago I came across this Supreme Zippo on eBay, I thought straight away it would go far beyond my budget but to my surprise I was the winning bidder for the grand sum of $22 and the icing on the cake for me was the fact that it still had the safety seal on.

I'm almost certain it was released around 1998 as thats when the motion blur decks of the same design were released so there can't be too many floating around these days considering its age. It's a Supreme item that really interested me, not only because of the unique matte red finish but because I've never seen it before, infact, I never knew it existed but to have it in my possession is truly great.

As much as I'd like to use this everyday I'm simply not brave enough - my much more common chrome Supreme Zippo from last year will have to suffice for my daily needs.

A Few Bits I Found

On my trip abroad I, unsuprisingly, frequented a few shops and I picked up a few bits. These are some highlights.

The one shop I was most impressed with was J-Press. The day before I left my father had told me about it, comparing it to J Crew, but perhaps a little more up market. As far as he knew it was a traditional Madison Avenue outfitters similar to Brooks Brothers that had been bought out by a Japanese firm and therefore they had gone more traditional but less stagnant. There was plenty I could have bought in store but I simply didn't have the time nor money to look and buy seriously. I ended up picking up some very cosy and very warm socks as well as two eternally useful woolen hats, which I may add are very well made.

Before my visit to J-Press I went into Brooks Brothers to find something in particular and I found it straight away. Ever since Thom Browne started his Black Fleece range I had been after one of the oxford shirts. Their fit is fairly similar to one created by Gitman Brothers, but the quality is, in my opinion, on a different level. And luckily this one was in the sale.

I made two trips to Supreme. I attempted to find Mr. Jebbia but he was not around so all I got was his regards. I picked up a nice tee from the recent taps collaboration, the Vans released last year and a thermal long sleeved tee in the sale.

NYU t-shirts and sweats are one of my oldest memories of presents from trips abroad that my father would bring back. Since I have a new love of Champion, as well as the US collegiate look I purchased these from the NYU bookstore, and the fact they were student-y levels of cheapness they are wonderful additions to my wardrobe.

With some level over cash I picked up a plastic strapped Bapex. Not the one I had wanted, but a nice buy nonetheless.

Oh and a Patagonia Rain Shadow. Perfect outer shell for any weather and cheaper to buy across the pond

After a year of collecting Supreme decks I've managed to gather the five pictured below, due to my severe OCD I tend to only pick up completely DS decks meaning I have less choice and less money in my Paypal account afterwards.



In 2010 Supreme will bring us a very much overdue Harmony Korine collab, this for me is an instant pick up and very reminiscent to the Larry Clark decks which I have yet to get my hands on.

Last week I was lucky enough to travel to the big apple with my girlfriend. It was the coldest the Eastern Seaboard of the USA had seen in some 25 years and you could really feel it walking around. These are a few amateur pictures of my trip...

Like a Lion in Zion in Zion

Thanks to a very kind gentleman who spotted one for me in Tokyo I managed to finally get my hands on the Lion of Judah Supreme knit. This had been on the top of my wish-list for well over a year now and was undoubtedly a grail piece for me, so finally getting hold of it and for a very reasonable price was a welcome surprise. With Christmas now around the corner I am also very appropriately dressed.

Supreme Ripstop

Since my Supreme obsession started a few years ago I have always fancied a piece of outerwear. For many years the only Supreme I experienced was that that my father had brought back from trips to Tokyo or NY. Because of this I was limited to t-shirts and the odd sweat. With my age, however, has come wealth, and after working all summer I managed to accumulate enough funds to purchase my first piece of expensive Supreme. This season the ripstop jacket immediately sprung out as something I needed to own. For the period preceding its release I was already investigating more technical apparel. Both old and new style Patagonia, as well as pieces by brands such as Arcteryx and some of the new Stone Island Shadow Project stuff fed my obsession with materials designed exclusively for extreme wear and my interest in the technology behind them. The release therefore of one of these pieces, by one of my favourite brands, equated to a definite cop. Thanks to a friend I managed to get hold of it for US retail, which was a serious money saver and one which I much appreciate.

The technical quality of it must not be underestimated. Some may think, that as its only made by a lowly NY skate brand and not an internationally renowned mountaineering manufacturer, that the way it withstands wind and rain is poor, but these people are fools of the highest degree. I am going to admit that it has only been tested in October rain in Bristol, but it holds up as well as any Patagonia or Arcteryx I have ever owned. The ripstop material is just that, and is both lightweight and tough. The colour is also something which immediately drew me to it as did the detail on it is which is a lovely touch. It also comes it red and black, which are equally as nice (I only didn't cop the red due to the amount of red already in my wardrobe). In my week of owning this I have already worn it enough times to warrant the purchase, and i'm sure this winter I will not be seen without it somewhere near me.
